With its sassy unicorn mascot, imaginative flavors, and colorful toppings, Big Gay Ice Cream reinvented the traditional ice cream parlor when it opened its first rainbow-painted NYC truck in 2009. Now, the fun-loving company founded by longtime friends Bryan Petroff and Douglas Quint, has a new home at the Seaport District.
Big Gay Ice Cream
Located at 207 Front Street, New York, NY 10038
Thursday to Saturday from 11am – 12am
Sunday to Wednesday from 11am – 11pm
Offering Big Gay’s signature soft serve and topping combinations including Dorothy (vanilla and dulce de leche covered in crushed Nilla Wafers), American Glob (vanilla with dark chocolate-covered salted pretzels, sealed in chocolate dip) and the apple pie-infused Gobbler sundae, it’s a destination for lower Manhattanites seeking the most drool-inducing ice cream creations. Look out for seasonally-rotating flavors, and enjoy the cheery decor with old-school punk hits and ’80s classics on the stereo as you wait in line.
Made with a lot of love (and a big dose of humor), Big Gay’s award-winning ice cream contains only milk, cream, sugar, and an emulsifier blend, making it as “naked” and natural as possible, adding in only high-quality ingredients that meet the same standards. Beyond ice cream, you’ll find milkshakes, floats, and other sweet treats made with their hallmark flavors. And, as is customary at Big Gay, sprinkles and dips are always free.
